Denis Hapi
Canadian Sculptor
Videos
Interviews with Denis Hapi, on his sculptures, and often on life.
Here, Hapi talks a bit about Lutte d'Eternal / Eternal Struggle, one of his large sculptures in Frelighsburg, Quebec. In the photo, is the front side of the sculpture, which portrays a man wrestling the beast. On the back of the beast is an eagle (video shot), which has got its head plunged right into the beast's back. This represents all the exogenous factors of life. The south (video) side of the sculpture is a family, the dominant, and the subdominant form and the progeny coming out, all on the back of the beast. The exogenous factors - the hex of the family - are taxes, laws (gst! pst!).
This video offers Denis' views about what his life's work as a sculptor represents.
